Falling

I love autumn. For me, when the leaves change it's always been magic. Except for living in New England, I believe Pennsylvania is the next best place for leaf watching. There are rolling hills with many trees and the season lasts longer than when I lived in Michigan or Illinois.
Trees that turn completely red are my favorite, but I also love seeing trees with very dark bark with the conrast of bright yellow leaves.
I also really enjoy raking the leaves and so does Buttons. Yes, we made a big pile for her to jump in and throw the leaves up in the air. This was the first year we didn't have to coax her into it, we only had to ask.
The father and daughter bonding moments happen all year around, but this one was in the fall and made my heart grow a bit. Aren't they adorable? Buttons had just received her flu shot that week and they were pretending she was the doctor and Hubby was the patient and he needed a shot.
What's your favorite thing about fall?

Topic of the Week

TOPIC OF THE WEEK (which I am way behind if you're keeping count)

Now that it is getting cooler here, it makes me think of apple picking and hay rides. Are you the type that likes to go to participate in all the fall festivities like apple picking, pumpkins, decorating for the fall, hay rides, baking fall goodies, etc. or do you just sit and count the days till Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?

I LURVE all things fall with the exception of allergies and my annual run in with bronchitis. I haven't picked apples this year mostly because our CSA runneth over. Hubby, Buttons and I went for a hay ride / farm tour and picked our pumpkins Friday night and had a blast. I haven't baked any goodies yet except coconut cupcakes for Buttons' birthday party last Saturday. (She turns 3 tomorrow!) I'm planning on making some pumpkin and/or chocolate zucchini bread, though. We do have a toddler scarecrow on our front porch dressed in Buttons clothes beside our pumpkins. Yes, I love autumn. Mmmm...

Is This Really November?

We went to a local botanical garden today with some friends and had a great time in the 70 degree sunny weather. Why can't we bottle golden days like this to use in the winter when we're feeling blue? We played in the leaves, ran around in a children's maze, gazed at the beautiful flowers and watched a Lion Dance performed by a group of Chinese American children. Buttons was scared but she still clapped when they were done. On the way home, Buttons couldn't decide if she was more hungry or more tired, so she sat in her car seat eating "o's" while sleeping. It was quite a sight. Aren't summer days wonderful?
