Transitions
First day of pre-school 2007-2008

Last day of pre-school 2007-2008
The hair is longer, the face is older, the backpack fits better and she's more relaxed as she gets ready to enter her pre-school on her last day of this school year. It's wonderful to see how much she's grown over this past year and bittersweet knowing it's all flying by so fast. She was brave but sad her first day but after that she loved it. She's going to miss her teachers and her classmates and I will too. We've had many transitions over the past year with a big girl bed, potty training, and we're going over to the dark side of nap free days. Our world just keeps getting bigger and now it's time to expand it even more with our big trip. However, after we leave, a couple of our very best friends are moving to San Francisco and we're going to miss them terribly.
Transitions:
Wonderful,
Difficult,
Scary,
Exhilarating,
Challenging,
Necessary.
This may be the last post for a little while until we're in Belgium. Currently, you'll find me packing, planning, running errands, prepping our house sitter and looking a little like a deer in the headlights.

Relief
The first day of school went well for Buttons. Grandpa is recovering nicely. Thank you for your kind words and good vibes.
Today is also September 11th and I'm thinking of the family and friends of the people who lost their lives on this day 6 years ago. May there be peace.

School Days
She starts school next week. Next week people! Just last week she had no teeth! Wasn't that last week? Hmmmph, seems like it. She's going to pre-school. It's only a couple of days a week for a couple of hours each day, but it's the beginning. It's the beginning of letting go and the start of Buttons navigating her world without my watchful eye. It's the beginning of possibilities. The possibility of being inspired by her teachers, learning new skills she'll have for the rest of her life, making new friendships and falling in love with school (oh I do hope).
Hubby and I met her teachers earlier in the week and Buttons joined us for an open house where the teachers met the children and everyone just played. They have a kitchen and books, so Buttons is all set. Before her nap, I told her the story of Buttons and her new school. I told her how Buttons made cookies for everyone in the kitchen and sailed in the pirate ship with her friend. I told her about the bathroom right off of the classroom. She was interested and asked if the teachers brought the kids to the potty. I assured her they would. She then told me which teacher should take her to the potty. That girl makes up her mind fast.
